Hobbiton is by far the coolest village I have visited. So when I had the opportunity to drop by again last January, I jumped on it and I’m so glad I did. A lot had changed since my first visit back in late 2015. It was exciting to go back after all these years with more experience and a fresh perspective. I had one day to capture ‘The Shire’ from The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings movies. This time I was ready and had meticulously planned out what I wanted to achieve.
I ended up booking two tours. If I hadn’t done that I would have been in a lot of trouble. My camera gear malfunctioned on the first tour and thankfully I had enough time between tours to identify and remedy the issue. It goes to show you can never be too prepared.
Why More Hobbiton Photography?
It was important to add to my collection of Hobbiton photography. These images have become my best sellers. Sales aside, I love the joy they bring people. As many of you know, you can order my images on many different products. So many people order the pictures on my home decor and lifestyle products as well as wall art. I look forward to the fun people are going to have with the new additions. Here are a few more of them below.
So Much Had Changed
I wasn’t sure what to expect on my return visit. So as you can image I was pleasantly surprised by the new doors, colors, plants and the clothing on the clothes lines. This gave me an opportunity to photograph the same Hobbit Holes I had before and get a completely different result. It has been fun to compare and view the images from my first visit to the ones I took on this visit.
Before you leave my website today, make sure you check out my other blog post: Photographing The Hobbiton Movie Set. This will give you the opportunity to see if you can spot the differences to some of the Hobbit Holes. For example, the door in the image below has been replaced and the color of the dwelling has faded since I photographed it last.
Behind The Scenes
This is for those of you that are yet to visit the Hobbiton Movie Set in Matamata, New Zealand. You all can view photography of the Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon and the overall scene. Therefore, I wanted to share a few behind the scenes photos with you all.
More Hobbiton Photography Coming!
It is taking me a while to select and process the images from Hobbiton. Because of this, I have decided to share them out in separate posts. This way I can get them to you all much faster.
I am having a lot of fun and don’t want to rush the creative process, especially with my new Hobbiton Night Series. So not only will I be adding more daytime pictures I will also be adding night ones. I am so excited to share them with you all.
My Hobbiton Night Series
I have one Hobbiton at night photograph from my first visit. It was actually photographed during the day and I turned it into a nightscape. It was so popular that this time I went in knowing I wanted to create an entire Hobbiton Night Series. This time around I am discovering things about myself as a photo editor that didn’t know I had in me. I wanted to share one with you below. I have already added this one to my my Print Shop.
