Great Start To NZ Photo Tour In Wellington
Our New Zealand photography tour got off to a great start in Wellington. We did only have one day to explore the countries capital, but we managed to squeeze a lot in. We visited the Wellington Botanic Garden and explored Zealandia wildlife sanctuary. If it wasn’t for me taking too long photographing birds at Zealandia we would have had enough time to fit in the show at the Space Place at the Carter Observatory. I still owe James one for missing out on this. Another highlight of our visit to this interesting city was a fantastic restaurant called Charlie Noble.
So Much To See And Do In Wellington
Having never been to Wellington before we were not sure what we were going to see, do and photograph. I can say there is a lot to do of all three. For me Zealandia was the highlight of our visit. It is home to some of New Zealand’s most rare and extraordinary wildlife. There were these adorable ducklings. The staff said the ducks lay their eggs outside of Zealandia and walk their ducklings up to the gates once they are hatched. The staff let them through the gates and the cycle continues.
The Botanic Gardens were beautiful and gave me a chance to play with my new macro lens, the Tokina 100mm f2.8. Wellington Space Place looked interesting but we missed out on that as the last show was around 4pm. After walking up the large hill to all of these places and exploring Zealandia we decided to take the iconic Cable Car back down and call it a day. Well that’s it for now, got to dash as we are now on the South Island and adventure awaits.
