The Apache Trail | Arizona
This image was captured along the Apache Trail near Theodore Roosevelt Lake in eastern Arizona. I named it after the trail and decided to give it an ‘old western’ feel. I am in awe of this part of the United States. I have already visited most of the locations Arizona is famous for and found this area extremely fascinating. With it’s amazing canyons, stunning lake, and beautiful mountains, I am surprised I had not heard of it before.
We come across the area whilst driving from Silver City to Sedona. It was nice to see how far north the iconic saguaro cactus grows. Theodore Roosevelt Lake and The Salt River were very beautiful. I am looking forward to visiting the area again and exploring it more thoroughly.
The Apache Trail
The Apache Trail is named after the Apache Indians who used it to travel through the Superstition Mountains. In the early 1900’s it was used as a stagecoach route to carry men and equipment for the construction of Roosevelt Dam. Today it’s officially known as Arizona State Route 88.
I took this photograph from a part of the trail that is paved next to where Salt River meets Theodore Roosevelt Lake. A lot of the trail is not paved and a great off road trip for the adventurous traveler. I took a number of photographs while passing through the area and I will be sharing them out on my blog over the coming months.
Arizona has one of the worlds most interesting landscapes. I can see myself visiting there many times in my life.
